Yobo: Fans Kept Me Going
Yobo has explained how Everton fans kept him positive.
Joseph Yobo has told evertonTV the messages of support he received from Toffees fans kept him positive during his brother's kidnapping.
Norum Yobo was taken hostage in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt on July 17 and held captive for 12 days.
This week Joseph returned to first-team training, linking up with his team-mates in Chicago.
Now in Denver ahead of Sunday's game against Colorado Rapids the defender sat down with evertonTV. He thanked the Club and the fans for their support and says he hopes to repay them by helping Everton succeed in the coming campaign.
"It's a big relief for myself and my family," said Yobo . "It's not really been the best summer for me.
"I'm just glad it's all over now and I'm looking forward to playing football.
"My family is fine and everyone is happy. We can all start our lives again now. I'm back here now training with the squad, so it's good.
"Knowing the Club and fans were behind me was a big help. All the messages I was getting showed a lot of support from them and I was delighted. It's good to know people are behind you at difficult times.
"I'd like to thank everybody that has been involved during a difficult period. Words can't express how I feel, now I just want to focus on football."
