More From Pre-Season
Yakubu thinks he will be fit for the start of the season.
The Nigerian striker ruptured his Achilles against Tottenham in November last year and has since undergone a strict rehabilitation programme.
But the Yak has responded well to treatment and has set his sights on Everton's first Premier League clash against Arsenal as his return date.
The £11.25 million signing is also hopeful to travel to America for Everton's pre-season preparations.
"I'm getting better and training every day with the physio who is so wonderful to me," he said at the opening of Everton's new store at Liverpool One on Friday.
"At the moment it is good and there is no reaction and hopefully I will join them in pre-season, which is good news.
"For almost eight months I haven't been playing football but at the moment it's great. I don't know but I think at the beginning of the season I'll be ready."
Yakubu, who was devastated to suffer a season-ending injury, was one of five injured strikers over the winter period last season.
That meant Tim Cahill had to step in to fill the void in the forward position, and the Yak is full of praise for the way the entire side handled the situation.
"They did so well fighting for each other, which is good," added the Yak. "The spirit in the team is good and you have to give credit to the players.
"It's unbelievable to have a team with no normal strikers, doing so well finishing fifth and getting to the FA Cup final."
