YAK'S APOLOGY

Yakubu has apologised to his 'Everton family' for his late return from African Cup of Nations duty.
The Nigerian international was speaking after returning to the Blues' starting line-up for Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over SK Brann in the Uefa Cup.
It was the player's first taste of action for The Toffees following his punishment for returning to Everton three days later than expected after Nigeria's exit from the African Cup of Nations.
He produced a typically robust and full-blooded performance alongside Andrew Johnson in tough conditions in Bergen.
Afterwards he admitted he owed everyone associated with the Club an apology.
He told evertonTV: "I feel like a part of a family here with everyone working together. We want to win something and achieve something together. I am so pleased to be playing again and it is thanks to the players and the manager.
"I came back late and I have apologised to everyone for that, the supporters too. It happened for personal reasons but I promise it won't happen again. I am so pleased to be back again now and playing again.
"The gaffer was very angry," he continued, "I have spoken to the manager and now it is over. I think the players were glad to see me back. It is good to be in a team where you know the players want you."
Yakubu didn't get on the scoresheet in his first appearance for the Blues since the Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Chelsea.
But it was the result that gave the top scorer biggest satisfaction in Bergen - with the 2-0 lead putting Everton in a commanding position going into next week's second leg at Goodison.
He added: "I tried to score but it is not important I score, we work as a team and I am so pleased we got the result we wanted thanks to goals from Ossie and Victor. It is good to be back again.
"It is a good feeling to come to this place and get a result like that. Winning 2-0 is not easy because they are a good team but it is not over yet - we are only halfway there. We won't get carried away and we will do everything to make sure we finish the job."
Yakubu also had praise for his compatriot Victor Anichebe, who scored Everton's second goal.
"Victor is doing great," he smiled. "You can see in training that he is getting better. He can become the top scorer in the Premier League one day. The young players are doing so well and they are fighting for a place in the team.
"I give him advice if I can. We strikers stick together. I tell him things that he should be doing. It is good to have a player like that on the pitch you must encourage."

Your Commentsyak hope u could score against pompey my brother lives there and always breggs about them
After a poor 1st half, when the goal went in, the team improved tremendously, with the Yak leading the line like a great centre forward should holding the play up when required, bringing the midfielders in to boost the attack as proven by the goals scored. Keep up the good work both in the league and the EUFA cup! Jim Farley.
Yak I thought the game against SK Brann was one of your most promising performances so far .If you can match your skill and power with the willingness to chase lost causes and close down defenders quickly then there is no doubt in my mind that you can become a true Goodison Legend!
Just as well we won against Reading last weekend without Yak! May have been a different story had we lost. Personally i wouldnt have dropped Yakubu, but that is my opinion and i know everyone is different. Glad that Yakubu feels part of Everton as he certainly wasnt at the end of his days at Middlesborough. A player can also make himself feel part of a club or not. The choice at the end of the day is down to the player. Lets hope that Yak will feel happy at this great club for a long time as it maybe him who decides its time to move on and not the club.
We're a family club, and it's great to have Yak back in our family. For a couple of days, he was, let's say booted out the house, but he's said sorry, and all is forgiven. Maybe you can forgive us by scoring against Pompey, and jumping into the crowd.
keep doing what u now you can do
Yak we're pleased to see you back you've apologised so now forget it. It's done and dusted just get on and do what we all know what you can do and bang them goals in COYB!!!!!!!
