Yak Back For Derby
David Moyes has almost a full squad to select from going into the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
There are only three absentees from the Everton camp - with long term injury Phil Jagielka ruled out as he recovers from knee surgery.
Tony Hibbert continues his rehab following a hernia operation and is likely to return in two to three weeks, and Joseph Yobo, who has returned from the African Cup of Nations, is receiving treatment for a hamstring strain.
The Blues manager says he is much happier with his squad compared to the start of the season when the injury crisis was at its worst.
"What is important is we get the best team out we can,” Moyes told his pre-match press briefing.
"There are certainly a few players who could do with a little bit more match time but for the first time I have got just about a full squad.
"Looking at that squad it looks really powerful, it looks really strong and if the season was starting with the players we have got available now then I think we would be in a much healthier position than we are just now."
Yakubu returns to the squad following his spell with Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations.
The striker has yet to hit top form since his 11-month injury lay-off with a ruptured Achilles, but the manager says with more match practice he will be back to the old Yak.
"His injury was a real career threatening injury but he seems to be over it now,” said Moyes. “I think we can say it is probably going to take time though.
"What you can't take away is Yak's finishing," Moyes continued. "If you look at his goal scoring record in the Premier League and over most of the seasons he has been up there so that tells you he is a good finisher.
"For him to get his sharpness and his all round fitness back, I think that might just take time with his injury completely healing. But I do think he looks very close to it now."
Sylvain Distin also returns to the squad after missing the trip to Wigan with a groin problem.
Everton from: Howard, Nash, Neville, Coleman, Heitinga, Senderos, Distin, Baines, Fellaini, Osman, Arteta, Rodwell, Pienaar, Bilyaletdinov, Donovan, Gosling, Cahill, Saha, Yakubu, Vaughan, Anichebe, Duffy, Baxter, Forshaw.

Tony WoodersonI'd start with Yak AND Saha. Lets go for the win. Its long overdue! I'd like to see Howard; Nev, Heitinga, Distin, Baines; Cahill, Fellaini, Pienaar, Donovan; Saha, Yakubu. Arteta to come on at some point and score the winner!

Saturday 6th February 04:51 Report CommentWayne InstoneThat is a very strong squad and Davie is going to have a difficult job picking 16, out of that lot. Some will be dissapointed, but thats the result of having a strong squad. It vital we close Liverpool down and stop them playing, dont give Gerard an inch of space, because he is the one player who can hurt you given time on the ball. They are all run run run, huff and puff, so when we have the ball we have to teach them a lesson.

Stewart LoweYou look above at the players listed in the squad for tomorrows game and it has got top 4 written all over it. David Moyes has built this team and he must look at who is in that squad and think he couldnt do much better if he was given a so called bigger team to manage.

Hugh DanielsSquad strength is now impressive. As usual, it will be down to mental approach. Moysey needs to get the team revved up like he did for Man City - attack attack attack from KO, mark close, close down the edge of the box, and play in their half of the field. It's down to being ruthless and fearless - don't give the Reds time on the ball. Also, our passing needs to improve or we will concede possession. Felli MUST do a job on Gerrard and be up for the game of his life. Go to it Moysey!!!! COYB!!!!!!
