Yakubu has been explaining just how important Mikel Arteta is to Everton.
The Yak was the beneficiary on Saturday when Arteta's cross set him up for his first goal of the season.
And with the Spaniard now back at peak fitness after a frustrating time in the second half of last season, Yakubu is looking forward to continuing their fruitful relationship.
Yakubu exlcusively told evertonTV: "I was pleased with the goal. It was good to score.
"Mikel has the vision and he works for the team, if he doesn't play, the team doesn't play and we need players like that.
"He gives us more options."
The Nigerian international was able to watch the closing stages of his country's 4-1 Olympic semi-final triumph over Belgium - and was keen to praise the young side, which includes clubmate Victor Anichebe.
He added: "I am so happy for the boys and I hope they can do the same again and win the gold medal.
"It's great for Victor - he's young so it's great experience."
