WE'RE THE ENTERTAINERS

WE'RE THE ENTERTAINERS

Mikel Arteta believes Everton are now evolving into the kind of footballing side all football fans love to watch.

The Blues swept aside Sunderland 7-1 at Goodison on Saturday playing a brand of football that was a delight to behold.

The neat inter-play between a ball-playing midfield that included Arteta, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar, Lee Carsley and Tim Cahill was too much for the Black Cats to contend with.

And the Spanish playmaker admits it is the best brand of football he has seen from the Blues since he arrived at Goodison in January 2005. But he has warned Everton's Premier League rivals there is even more to come from David Moyes' young side.

He said: "I am really enjoying this style of football, it is different to how we have played in previous seasons since I have been here.

"We now have more freedom for the talent we have in the side to really show itself. We were, still are, based on a solid defence but we have more licence now to attack. Now we are scoring wonder goals and the fans like it.

"Work rate obviously is very important but the goals now are the bonus."

Arteta's only frustration on Saturday was that he didn't get on the scoresheet himself - denied by a goalline clearance and going close with a sublime free-kick.

He added: "I was trying really hard to score at the end, I was about the only one who had not got one. But I was just as pleased with the way we played.

"We have to be happy with that it went very well, we got the three points, particularly with a really good performance after the break, and that is what we wanted.

"The style in which we did it, though, was unbelievable. You do not score seven goals every week. We have to be happy with that.

Raymond ThompsonKeep going guys. We have a fantastic squad and now everyone is fit we are good contenders for a cup win and a top 6 finish. COME ON YOU BLUES. :-)

DANIEL GIBSONExcellent perfomance from the blue boys! With the quality in this side I had a feeling we were going to give someone a beaqting sooner rather than later. It was great to see such a team display full of skill, passing, movement, workrate and desire. Definitely an I was there occasion, lets keep it going.

Adam Belli think we definetly need to secure steven pienaar on to a permanent deal and get all of our best players on long term contracts. Plus stevey takes some of the pressure technically off arteta

Edvard ChanAbsolutely brilliant stuff! I can't remember the last time we had a victory as one-sided as this! I just hope the management recognizes the efforts of Moyes, coaching staff and players, and endeavour to keep our talented young players at Goodison and build for the future. Everton has a glorious history and we should not be demoted to the status of being a "selling" club. We are a big club and should really start acting like one and challenge the big boys!

Mark ReidIt was a team performance at the weekend. Hard to pick star men out! Do think the trio Arteta-Cahill-Pienaar is having a big impact and with Osman making flashes brilliance... All in all good performance that can still be built on further. Thats the great thing about it.
