We're Gunner Bounce Back
Phil Jagielka believes Everton can turn their season around at Emirates Stadium.
The Blues defender explained that fielding an experienced side is the key to beating Arsenal after watching the young Gunners collect just one point from their last two league games.
“It’s 11 players against 11 players,” said Jagielka. “We’re not like a young team that’s only just gone into the Premier League. We’ll know how to go about that game - the gaffer will have his tactics.
“We’ve got some fantastic players, some international players, some players that should be internationals in our team and I’m sure we’ll go down there and hopefully enjoy ourselves.”
Reflecting on last season’s 1-0 defeat at the Emirates, Jagielka continued: “We did really well down there last year, until about 70 minutes when we got a bit tired.
“Hopefully we’ll go one better this time. Obviously we’re not in a rich vein of form, but it’s got to turn somewhere and why not let it be the Emirates?”
With the Blues set to host Manchester United only a week after the visit to North London, Jags believes three points on Saturday will not only improve confidence in Everton’s quest to climb the league table, but unsettle the reigning League and European champions.
“I’m sure if we get a decent result down at the Emirates, Man United aren’t going to look forward to coming to Goodison,” explained Phil.
“They never do, we just lost out again last season to them. We’ve got a few points to prove to teams like this, and hopefully we can start doing that this season.
“Once we do pick up the results and start getting consecutive wins on the spin, the team will start playing confidently. It’s a very, very dangerous team, and we proved that last season.”
