WE MUST RAISE OUR GAME

We Must Raise Our Game

David Moyes says his side has begun to turn a corner but believes the best is yet to come.

Preparing to face Chelsea and after improved performances against Liverpool, AEK Athens and Tottenham, the Everton manager wants the team to now raise their game further.

"The level of performances has increased and got better,” Moyes said. “The Liverpool game, for example, we did well but came away with nothing.

"In Athens we didn't play too well but still got the result. Then against Tottenham, there were times in the game where we did okay.

"I think there is a slight improvement," explained the manager.  "But not as much as I'd like."

With Joseph Yobo now added to the long term injury list Moyes knows he's asking a lot of the players who are fit.

"Certainly with what's available to us and what we're trying to put out right now, we are performing,” he continued.

"We're trying to get something out of the players we've got and we're doing that."

Chelsea have seen their lead at the top of the table cut to just two points following the loss at Manchester City last week.

But the London side are yet to drop a single Premier League point at Stamford Bridge this season and Moyes rejected suggestions it is a good time to be facing Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

"It's a tough game and we'll go there and do everything we can to get something from the game," said the manager.

And the Everton boss says he wouldn't be surprised if Ancelotti's side go on to lift the Premier League trophy - but doesn't predict an easy ride.

"Undoubtedly. I think them and Manchester United are expected to be up there come the end of the season,” he added.

"I think there will be one or two hiccups for both clubs though. You've seen it already with both sides and if you catch them on a good day, you might get something from them.

"But I think they will be the two who are battling it out at the end."

I AGREE WE DO NEED TO UP OUR GAME.BUT WHAT I WANT TO SEE IS TWO STRIKERS UP FRONT INSTEAD OF A LONE STRIKER LIKE JO.JO DOES OK BUT IF HES GOT THE BALL WHO CAN WE REALLY ATTACK WITH HIM?SAHA N MAYBE JO PLAY OFF HIM THEN THE YAK AS A SUB IN THE 2ND HALF OR THE YAK N JO TO START.EITHER WAY WE ARE STRONGER UP FRONT WITH TWO THAN ONE.I KNOW WE HAVNT GOT THE PLAYERS TO DO MUCH BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A DIFFERENT FORMATION.COYB.
