WE MUST BOUNCE BACK
Phil Jagielka calls for the players to put Everton back on track.
Phil Jagielka says it’s the players’ responsibility to put Everton back on track.
The 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa followed a 1-1 draw against Metalist Kharkiv and a 1-0 reverse at home to Man Utd.
With a Carling Cup tie scheduled for Wednesday, Jagielka sees it as the players' responsibility to forge a return to winning ways.
He told evertonTV: "We have got to kick on now. It's only the boys that are in there that can turn the results around - and we are going to do so.
"All the boys are together," continued Jags. "We know we have not been good enough these last couple of games and it is for us to turn the corner."
The Blues have had a few injury problems of late, and while Jagielka admits they don't help, he says the numbers are now there in the squad to compensate.
He's also keen to keep his place at the heart of Everton's midfield.
"Maybe the injuries are an issue," he conceded. "But we have got good players in the squad that can come in and it just depends if they can gel straight away.
"Hopefully I can make it (a central midfield place) my own, the gaffer has changed things round for a few games and it depends on what he wants to do.
"It doesn't matter where anyone plays as long as we are picking up points."
