James Vaughan reckons he is a couple of weeks away from full training.
The 20-year-old striker is currently recovering after undergoing knee surgery in March.
He's hopeful of featuring in some of the summer pre-season games, and remains confident of being fit for the season opener on August 16.
Vaughan told evertonTV: "Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be back training with the lads and then get as many games as I can before the start of the season.
"Hopefully I will put all the problems behind me and kick on from there."
Vaughan has had a catalogue of injuries since announcing himself on the Premier League scene with a record-breaking debut and goal in April 2005.
He has twice undergone knee surgery in America by renowned surgeon Dr Richard Steadman, and dislocated his shoulder a year ago.
But he is still focussed on making a major imapct this season.
"Last season was a big season for us, we just want to maintain what we’re doing and kick on," he said.
"I am hoping (to be fit for the start of the season), as long as everything goes to plan I don’t see why I shouldn’t be."
