SERVICE FOR WALLY FIELDING
A memorial service for Wally Fielding will be held next month.
Wally passed away in January, aged 88, after a long illness and the service will be an ideal opportunity for former colleagues and supporters to pay their respects.
St Luke’s Church, adjacent to Goodison Park, will be the venue on Sunday 13 April, at 2.30pm.
Wally settled in Cornwall after retirement although his heart remained at his beloved Goodison Park and following his funeral, his immediate family requested that a memorial service be held on Merseyside.
Everton Former Players’ Foundation trustee, Darren Griffiths, said. “Wally and his family thoroughly appreciated all the assistance he got from the foundation during his latter years and it’s lovely that we are holding this service to remember him.
“I had the great fortune to meet him when he was well enough to come to Goodison and he clearly loved the club very much.
“We are expecting a good turn-out for the service and I am sure it will be an appropriate way to celebrate the contribution Wally made to Everton.”
