Jack Rodwell is a doubt for Everton ahead of the visit of Birmingham on Sunday.

The midfielder limped off the pitch after less than eight minutes in the Europa League clash with BATE Borisov on Thursday.

A scan has been carried out on the suspected hamstring injury but Everton are waiting for the results.

Brazilian Jo could also miss the Premier League match at Goodison with the knee injury he picked up at Chelsea and the striker is also battling the flu.

Better news for came as David Moyes revealed at his pre-match press conference that Leon Osman came through last night's game unscathed.

"Ossie needs match practice," said the Blues boss.  "He obviously hasn't played since his foot injury in October."

Osman was one of only four regular first team players who started the 1-0 defeat against BATE.

Moyes chose to field a youthful side while resting those who have played most the season, with Sunday’s game firmly in his mind.

Tim Cahill also returns from his suspension in the league. The midfielder missed the trip to Chelsea after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Tottenham.

John Heitinga and Lucas Neill are also back in contention for a starting place after sitting out the Europa League match due to their ineligibility.

Moyes is also without long term absentees Phil Neville, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka, Victor Anichebe, James Vaughan, Joseph Yobo, Dan Gosling and Sylvain Distin.

Everton (from): Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Coleman, Neill, Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Rodwell, Pienaar, Fellaini, Osman, Jo, Saha, Yakubu, Nash, Duffy, Agard, Akpan, Mustafi.

James WilkinsonI would love to see everton start with 2 strikers but i highly doubt that would occur with cahill returning to the first team. I would also like the club to release statements regarding jags and Arteta, cos rite now we have been left in the wilderness. Hopefully in Jan we can bring in 3 or 4 loan players, although prefer if we buy but obviously that wont happen. COYB!! 3 pts against Brum, havent won at home since september in the Premier League, that has to be fixed.

Mike WorsleyRegardless of who starts v Birmingham 3 points is a must, especially after portsmouths result yesterday, this game is too important so it must be the yak and saha from the whistle and lets see the passion from everyone on the field, you get no second bites at the cherry in this league so COYB'S lets start climbing to where we belong.

Rich MemberyI think that we should have the strongest line up we can make out of available squad but mix experience with youth so maybe Saha upfront with Agard, how good would that be!

George Ennisi agree with you there terry about the men on the goal posts from corners ,how can ya have someone like hibbert in the middle markin no one,and can the markers please attack the ball and not watch the man that they are markin, like you have said them games and others have cost us 3 points,And yes we do need phil back as leader to keep talkin and tellin players where to go and what to do!! cos otherwise i think half of them are lost.coybb's imwt nsno

Chris JacksonI agree 4-4-1-1 is a good formation i mean if he plays Pienaar and Cahill that would be good and Saha as well but it alson depends if Pienaar gets injured hopefully not and Fellaini is good to go to Baines is to but we need Rodwell and Arteta now back to pienaar hes been gettin injured a lot lately so im hopin he can help bring it home for us

Terry FarrellGoing to the game tomorrow. Don't know if Moyesey reads these, put PLEASE go back to 2 men on the posts for corners. We let goals in against Stoke and Spurs because of this when they would have been easily cleared. Agree with Kennie Knowles, and we need Neville back. COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kennie knowlesAnyone know what stage jags/ arteta are at?We need jags desperately.

Saturday 19th December 11:41 Report Comment

Richard GreyAt least he's only a doubt for this game, it could have been another Yobo/Distin injury where he's out for 4 weeks. I think Ossie could play at least some part of Sunday's game, so it could be a lot worse. Arteta, Jags, Neville, Distin, Anichebe will return soon and we'll be able to have some first-teamers on the bench for once! COYB! NSNO!

Lindsey McGrathGoing to the game tomorrow. Would have been good to see Jack playin hope he recovers in time. It won,t be an easy game, none are but Brummy av the bit between their teeth at the moment. The youngsters did us proud mid week and will on Sunday!! We can grind out a good result b4 the Burnley game and end the year on a winning streak! COYB Here,s wishin everyone a Happy Xmas and brilliant New Year!!

John HauI don't think Rodwell would recover for Birmingham and same goes with Osman who is not fit enough to start 2 game in a role, here would be a line-up I would like to see: Howard, Coleman, Neill, Heitinga, Baines, Pienaar, Baxter, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Cahill & Saha. But I would expect Moyes to play this instead: Howard, Coleman, Hibbert, Neill, Baines, Pienaar, Heitinga, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Cahill & Saha. Both a 4-4-1-1 formation.
