BOSS: WE DESERVED DRAW

David Moyes suggested that his team didn’t deserve to lose at Reading.

The Blues went down 1-0 against Steve Coppell’s side in a thoroughly disappointing contest but the manager felt that a share of the spoils might have been a fairer outcome.

“We didn’t play well today, certainly not as well as we have recently,” he said. “But we were maybe unfortunate not to get a draw today.”

Everton almost claimed a share of the spoils towards the end of the match when a piece of individual brilliance by James McFadden saw a delightful chip cannon back into play off the crossbar.

Andrew Johnson slid the subsequent loose ball against the post and the travelling Evertonians probably knew then that it wasn’t going to be their day.

“When the ball hit the bar it bounced off a defender’s hand but we didn’t get anything but these things happen,” said Moyes.

Everton have now collected six points from the opening three fixtures, which is a decent return given that there were some tough trips in the first week of the campaign and Moyes took some solace from the fact that his side already has six points on the board.

“When you come away to Reading and you come away to Tottenham in the first week they are tough games so we’re quietly satisfied but I have to say we thought today was a chance to take something from the game,” he said.

Justin BryantIt was a great shame thing went the way they did but for me James McFadden Is a real key to unlock defences. This Is a great player for us and I would use him as much as possible.

Dean HendersonFrustrating game, conceded a soft goal and looked out of sorts. Mikel finally had a bad day and it exposed us, the sooner we get Fernandes into the fray and buy an extra stiker, the better.
