POTTER PLANS ARSENAL DOWNFALL
Playing in cup finals is one of the reasons why Jo Potter joined Everton Ladies.
Potter signed for the Blues last summer from Charlton Athletic.
However the striker’s Everton career has been stop start to date with a series of injuries.
But the England international is now back to full fitness and determined to fire the Blues to glory in Thursday’s League Cup final against Arsenal.
“The day I signed for Everton was the day I found out that I had broken my foot,” Potter told evertonTV.
“I am fully fit now. I came back just before Christmas but now with games starting to be played more I am getting involved more.
“It is frustrating but as a footballer these things happen and you just have to fight to get fit again.”
The 2-0 defeat to the Gunners in December condemned the Blues to their only league loss this season and Potter believes there is not that much to choose between the sides.
She said: “It was a tighter game than the scoreline showed. It was 2-0 and they scored from two set pieces, they never looked a threat in open play and we had some chances they we didn’t take.
“We are looking forward to it. We know what they are about and they are not an unknown quantity to us. They have got some great players – around nine internationals but they know what we are about."
Potter, who won the League Cup with the Addicks in 2006, says she is enjoying life so far with the Blues.
“The cup competitions are always special occasions. It is a stage that we all want to be playing on. We are looking to do well and win it.
“This is the reason why I joined Everton. I was at Charlton last season and I am used to playing finals and playing in the top three teams. Going from Charlton it was only one choice for me and that was to come to Everton.
“They are a great bunch of girls, I have been coached under Mo (Marley) at England youth levels and she is a brilliant coach. The girls come here because they love playing football.”
