NO SURGERY FOR MIKEL

David Moyes does not expect Mikel Arteta to have to undergo surgery.

The Spaniard revealed today that he has been playing through the pain barrier since October.

He has missed recent games in Brann and at Manchester City, and the manager admits he is concerned.

Moyes said: "Mikel has been worried about this for a few months and so have we.

"It's something we hope will be cured by rest and it's not a problem that will need surgery.

"He will keep getting treatment and have some injections to get him through it. We will just have to see how he is."

Manuel Fernandes also remains a doubt for Sunday after he limped out of Monday's encounter at the City of Manchester Stadium.
