NO NEW DEALS FOR DUO

NO NEW DEALS FOR DUO

David Moyes has confirmed that both Alessandro Pistone and Richard Wright are set to leave Goodison this summer.

Both players are out of contract with the Blues this summer and will become free agents.

Moyes has, however, revealed there could still be a possibility of Wright remaining with the Blues.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "Alessandro and Richard have both been released, although the door is slightly ajar for Richard in that we may need to bring in another keeper."

And that could mean an opportunity for the England international if the manager is not satisfied with the options open to him.

Both Lee Carsley and Alan Stubbs have been offered new deals to remain with the Blues next term.

Pistone has not figured for the first-team since sustaining a serious knee injury in the second game of the 2005/06 campaign at Bolton - just weeks after signing a two year extension with the Toffees.

A handful of reserve team appearances have been the limit of the Italian defender's football action since then.

Wright has been a regular in the Everton senior squad, acting as deputy to Nigel Martyn for much of last season and Tim Howard during the current campaign.

In his five years at Goodison the keeper has made 71 appearances but has found first-team football limited in recent seasons.

He has figured in two senior games this term and 16 last year during Martyn's extended spell on the sidelines through injury.

Pistone has made 117 appearances during his Goodison career dating back to 2000 and his £3m arrival from Newcastle United.

Lee MyddletonGood luck Sandro. Glad to see the back of Dicky Wright. Our defenders never had any confidence in him.

Ade CheekTime to reinforce the defence now, midfield is just about sorted and we have potentially one of the best strike forces in the League

Kevin SmythI'm gutted for Pistone, I thought he was a quality defender and he was one of the reasons we played so well during the 04/05 season and came 4th......good luck to both of them though, never heard either of them complain when they were left out. Great to see Stubbs has got an extension, he's really earned it.

Karl MastersGood luck to them both. I don't really think Richard Wright had a bad first season, but he fell out of the loft and lost his place. He's certainly been unlucky. Sandro's been unlucky with a lot of injuries too. Will always remember his part in the 4th place season. Hope they both get a chance to say goodbye - first programme of next season perhaps?

Justin BryantJust to reitarate thank you to Richard Wright and Allessandro Pistone for their efforts. And an excellent decision on both Alan Stubbs and Lee Carsley.

Leslie RobertsSandro was a good player and I wish him all the best. Our left back position is well covered with joleon as back up but more importantly that Gary is fit and playing again.

John HamerI think it's a shame for Richard Wright. He had the potential to be one of the best keepers in the world when he was younger but he's always played second fiddle to more established keepers meaning he hasn't been able to establish himself as the top keeper he is. If he does leave, I hope he gets regular 1st team action.

albert leong siew yeeBetter for both players to find new clubs. Wright needs 1st team football and pistone needs match fitness as well. I see no future for them in our squad for 2007/2008 season . Albert Leong Penang Malaysia.

Michael CullwickBoth players have been good servants to the club as you would expect from solid proffessionals. But time and the club move on and think the manager is 100 percent right in letting both go and 100 percent right to offer evergreen Stubbs and Carsley (Mr rock solid) new deals. In David Moyes we trust.

Jamie SmithI am made up for stubbsy and cars - 2 players that deffo deserve 12 more months at least.

Gordon BellWe do need a reliable left back, rather than wasting Jolene Lescott there - Alan Stubbs can't go on for ever.

Rob HeatonLets just hope Stubbs and Carsley sign. With Moyes' emphasis correctly on youth we need their experiance in the squad and on the pitch

Michael MageeI too doubt if Wright would come back but good luck to him because he has not moaned once about not being in the team.Unfortunately Pistone needs to also move on,he is just too injury prone and has missed too much football over the last 2 years at his age.He was only offered a deal at the last minute because we were so short of left backs

Monday 14th May 17:45 Report Comment

Lee SummersWrighty has been unlucky in the fact we have had 2 top draw keepers over last 2 seasons or so and 2 up and coming young keepers also, best of luck too him in either case. Sandro has been a good servant to the club but injuries have paid the price, hes a fantastic left back im sure he will find another club, would like to thank them both for there service to the club,

Monday 14th May 17:21 Report Comment

Daniel MillerWe should thank both players for their contributions. Hope they do well in their future.

Monday 14th May 17:03 Report Comment

Mark JonesI think at the time we bought pistone he was a good buy but since he got injured Everton have moved on.

Monday 14th May 16:13 Report Comment

Thomas DickersonI doubt Richard would come back even if we were desperate for a backup, so I see him moving to Ipswich. Pity 'Sandro didn't feature more over the last two seasons, but I hope he finds a club.
