MOYES PRAISE FOR NEW BOYS

David Moyes has revealed he has differing expectations for each of the three players he has already signed this summer.

The trio of Simon Davies, Per Kroldrup and John Ruddy were unveiled to the media for the first time on Monday afternoon.

The manager is delighted to have secured the services of Davies from Tottenham for £3.5m, Kroldrup from Udinese for £5m and goalkeeper Ruddy from Cambridge for £250,000.

He is keen to shed some light on what he hopes to get from the new faces during the forthcoming campaign, with their levels of Premiership experience influencing his expectations.

He told evertonfc.com: "Simon can play in several positions, either wide on the right or as a central midfield player.

"He is well known in the Premiership and is a Welsh international so we knew we were signing somebody who did not represent much of a risk.

"We have a good idea of what we will get from him, he is a good type and a hard worker. I am sure he will fit in with what we have already got.

"Per Kroldrup is slightly different in that he is a bit more of a risk because he is an unknown in terms of playing in the Premiership.

"But he is a Danish international, he is at a good age and he has got a lot of the qualities we are looking for. He is young, enthusiastic and keen to improve. That is something we are looking to do as a team.

"He has given us some competition at centre-half and that is what we need to happen.

"I have known a bit about him for some time and we have been watching his progress. He has done well in Serie A with Udinese who, like us, also qualified for the Champions League this year.

"He can play in one or two positions across the back four. He played most of the time on the left of the centre for Udinese but I also know I can play him on the right or in a back three if we need to do so.

"He has got potential but obviously it is a little bit more of a risk because he is unknown to the Premiership.

"But he is a good size lad and has got a lot of the attributes required to be a very good central defender."

While both Kroldrup and Davies will play pivotal roles in the first team, 18-year-old Ruddy is a signing for the future.

Moyes added: "John Ruddy is only 18. He is a long-term signing but he has got plenty of potential.

"We know that goalkeepers do develop a bit later but he again has all the attributes and he has already got quite a few games under his belt in the Football League."

Moyes is pleased with the three new arrivals. But he is also keen to point out it is far from the end of his summer spending.

He added: "We are not happy with the numbers we have brought in so far, but we will be soon."
