MOYES ON PIENAAR MOVE

David Moyes reassures fans Steven Pienaar's move is on course.

MOYES ON PIENAAR MOVE

David Moyes has reassured fans Steven Pienaar's permanent move to Everton is on course.

The South African midfielder has been on loan at Goodison from German side Borussia Dortmund since July.

The two clubs agreed terms for a possible permanent transfer when the midfielder made the loan switch.

However, reports this week suggested Everton were approaching a crucial deadline concerning the clause that allows the Club to sign Pienaar for a pre-agreed fee.

The Goodison boss has responded to the reports by making it clear everything is on course concerning Pienaar's permanent switch to Everton.

He said: "As far as I know Steven Pienaar's contract is agreed, it's all done. I think it's his agent's money that isn't agreed. As far as I know everything has been done for a while, so I think it is to do with money for the agent."

That is the manager's explanation for the reports that emerged in South Africa this week.

Moyes is keen to secure Pienaar's services, having been impressed with the qualities the midfielder has brought to the Everton side this term.

He added: "Steven has done well for us. Since he came back from the African Nations he hasn't reached the standards he reached prior to that but that can happen.

"He has picked up one or two injuries which haven't allowed him to get a head of steam. Steven is one of the reasons our football has improved. He is a really good football player."

David Moyes' pre-match press conference will be available in full on evertonTV from 1pm, Friday.

Phil McLeanHopefully we will be saying "another good bit of business by Moyes". He is signing a player who will add to the quality and give the squad more depth. Hopefully David will have the money for two or three quality players and get busy in the loan department again with a view to buy. Nearly there. C O Y B

Steven Pienaar is a must for next season,I can't see why the agent is making noises about the transfer dealings of the club, acording to the press it is the agents fee that is causing all the problems, it appears that the tail is wagging the dog. We want and need you Steven ,C.O.Y.B.

Simon WardGreat news oon Pienaar, lets get Manuel Fernandes signed too and then look for a Carrick/Hargreaves/Barry style player in. We could also do with more cover in centrak defence. Get season so far, let's not lose our heads now and get back into Europe and win it next year! COYB!

Faye Wilsongood work. We need quality in the midfield like him and fernandes for when all our key midfielders are out (Arteta,Cahill,Osman) Like the other day. Sign Steven as quickly as possible, we need him to cover up for the injuried midfielders!

Gary ClarkI just hope Steven signs quickly and we can then look to add quality in the centre of midfield. Hopefully Manny can be bought at the right price, I feel he will flourish providing he knows where he belongs. COYB.

jamie mossopPienaar on a permanent deal is music to the fans ears, still hoping Manny can rediscover last yrs performances cos he can be another great addition to Moyes' boys. Next season will all depend on Davie pulling another rabbit out of the hat for a class central midfielder. I would settle for Diarra from pompey??

Richard HGood news that everything's on course. But what I don't understand is that the comments in the press were attributed to Pienaar. Or perhaps it's what his agent claims Pienaar has said? As long as he signs, I'm happy. Just need central midfield to be sorted over summer now and we're set!

Ajamu MutumwaIf there ever was a no brainer this is it. Its a real shame that the dreaded word "agent" has to come into the equation. Whenever he plays Yak knows that he will be well fed, fans know that he has improved our football four fold. Look at all the other players trying his tricks. I have no doubts in my mind that Everton will secure their man, and that can only be good for Everton Football Club.

Jim McIntyreI don't agree with David Moyes that Steven Pienaar has done well for us! I think he has done excellent for us and is heading for Everton "Die Hard" status for me. He's guttsy, good on the ball and a great passer and he has scored some really good goals for us. Sort it out now, he's just too good to lose!

Friday 11th April 12:09 Report Comment

Lee BainesLets get Steven in the bag ,he is a class act ,its just the sort of player the club needs to go forward, COYB
