Moyes Expected Spurs Rise
David Moyes isn't surprised by Harry Redkapp's resurgent Spurs.
David Moyes insists he's not surprised by Harry Redkapp's resurgent Spurs.
The Everton boss always believed it was only a matter of time before Tottenham's talented squad began to fire on all cylinders.
But Moyes did reserve praise for the almost instant turnaround Redknapp's arrival has instigated.
"They are the form team," he declared. "They are doing really well. They have a good group of players - a good squad. Obviously Harry has gone in there now and given them a lot of confidence.
"But in truth, if anybody thought Tottenham would be a side who were going to be near the bottom of the league I think they would have been kidding themselves."
Spurs spent big over the summer, bringing in the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, David Bentley, Luka Modric, Heurelho Gomes and Vedran Corluka to add to existing stars like Darren Bent, Aaron Lennon, Jonathan Woodgate and Jermaine Jenas.
And now, with six wins from the last seven games, things seem to have clicked.
"You have to give Harry incredible credit for that," said Moyes. "They had a great squad of players and you would expect them to be up there.
"They have the players and they've spent - not just last year but for the past four or five years."
