Moyes Could Rest Cup Heroes

Moyes Could Rest Cup Heroes

David Moyes could rest some players in Wednesday's game with Chelsea.

Everton played for 120 minutes in their penalties win over Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

And the manager admitted the game has taken it's toll on his players.

But he stressed that he is yet to decide on any likely changes.

Brazilian striker Jo is eligible after he was cup-tied for the Cup clash.

Mikel Arteta, Yakubu, Victor Anichebe and Nuno Valente were all present at Wembley to support their teammates - but they remain sidelined.

James Vaughan is in contention though after his FA Cup cameo.

"People know it is not normally my way. Am I tempted to rest? It is a consideration for me because of the 120 minutes," said Moyes.

"I have a few ideas but I'm not totally decided what I'm going to do yet."

Everton: Howard, Nash, Hibbert, Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Osman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Cahill, Pienaar, Vaughan, Neville, Saha, Jo, Castillo, Gosling, Yobo, Jacobsen, Baxter, Wallace.

Moyes' full pre-Chelsea press conference will be on evertonTV shortly. Click here now.

Brian DuffyWe need to keep pushing all the way. To sustain a challenge in Europe either champs league or Europa our players need to be accustomed to playing 50 to 60 games a year. Even the top clubs struggled to do well in Europe for the first couple of seasons due to fatigue at the end of the season. If the players percieve there is nothing to play for in the league, they stop trying and then to try and lift our performance in the cup after several weeks coasting will be near impossible. Ultimately whatever Moyes decides I will be behind him 100%. In Moyes we trust. COYB

Emyr JonesJo and Vaughan up front in a 4-4-2 formation????? Sounds good to me!

Dave TrevorDon't rest Fellaini please. Let him have an FA approved rest for 3 games prior to the cup final so he can wreak havoc with Chelski's "unflappable" Peter Cech!!! COYB

robin priceI think its important to remember that if we are going to be challenging consistently in Europe, whether its in the forthcoming Europa league or whether it will be in the champions league (we hope---COYB!!!) we will have to play our best side on a regular basis, in the league the cup and europe, so surely we need to be stronger than this if were going to challenge teams above us? I dont disagree that players should be rested--they DEFINATELY deserve it, but we need stamina to compete up there. Other option--put out our subs who wiere on the bench against utd because it would help them in preparation for the final against chelski-let them have a run out so they know what to expect from them on may 30th? COYB!!

Kevin JamesI think we have no choice but to rest some players. Give van der meyde a chance, He's not played since his delightful assist in the 4th round derby win. At least jo can play tonight giving a chance to rest saha, It would be great to get something from tonights game but they have more to play for than us at this moment. until may 30th that is

Michael EdwardsRest them. We are guaranteed Euro Footy now. Lets just go for winning the FA Cup rather than trying to get in to the Champ League. How bad would it be to loose Cahill, Ossie, Lesott or Jags for the final cos they are worn out and pick up a bad injury?

Mark BunkerFirtly i would like to said congrats to all, it was thoroughly deserved, to be in the final of the greatest cup competition in the world just shows how good you all are...i gotta say i would be inclined to rest some as we have pretty much secured Europe, and lets give a few of our youngsters and squad 90mins. Yobo, Jacobsson, Gosling, Rodwell, Vaughan, Castillo, Van Der Meyde etc..we have a much better chance of glory in the final rather than wishing Arsenal will slip up...well done again boys all legends

James AndersonI don't mind resting a few guys vs. Chelsea. I want a full squad available and ready to go vs. City on Saturday. Those are three points begging to be picked.

chris loinesi agree with martin turner if arsenal loose against liverpool and also chelsea and man utd and maybe even portsmouth, and even stoke and middlesbrough as they are going to be fighting hard to not get relegated we have a great chance of geting champs league as long as we win almost all of our remaining games which is not the hardest challenge that we will have faced NO REST 4 THE BEST COYB!!!!!!!!

Gary Evertonin Moyes we TRUST, do what you think is right boss, i have every faith in David Moyes and all of the Everton boys COYB

Tuesday 21st April 18:45 Report Comment

Michael ChangOn the other hand, not that I'm assuming a weaker side would lose to Chelski, but if we did it would definitely upset a few Liverpool fans. That would be a shame.

Tuesday 21st April 18:08 Report Comment

Paul Ellamim sure the majority of the players will want to play against chelsea and get a feel of what is in store next month. 1 or 2 changes is fine but wholesale changes isnt, we can still get champs league football cos im sure arsenal will drop points so its worth asking the main players to dig deep and fight on! some changes are easy anyway - saha, jagielka and cahill out, jo, yobo and vaughan in

Tuesday 21st April 16:57 Report Comment

Martin TurnerDon't rest them. Play your strongest team as there is an outside chance of the Champions League. If Arsenal lose the games againsty Liverpool, Chelsea, etc, then we are right back in it if we continue to win. I know some may be tired, but in a month or so they can all have a good rest. COYB
