Moyes Already Looking

David Moyes has revealed that plans are already underway to boost his squad in January.

Having declared last week that he would be perusing the loan and free-transfer markets next month, Moyes' search has intensified following the season-ending injury to Yakubu at Spurs last weekend.

The Blues boss is now tasked with finding players who can match the quality already in the squad without costing exorbitant prices.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "If we can make some additions in January that might help us. People know that any players will probably be loans and free transfers. We probably need more than one (player).

"We need to look about and see. We're interested in lots of players and we're working really hard at the moment, but I'm certainly not going to name players because I think it's wrong to do so."

In the meantime, Moyes admitted he may ask his current players to operate away from their favoured positions in order to plug the gaps created by the current striking crisis.

"I think it's going to be the case that it's all hands to the pump from now on," he declared. "There might be some games where we’ve got centre-halves and midfielders at centre-forward. Needs must and hopefully we won’t need to go that way, but there's nothing we can do and we're certainly not going to whinge about it. If we can make some additions in January that might help us."

And the Goodison chief went on to explain just how difficult it was to recruit players of sufficient quality in the current economic environment.

"We're a side that finished fifth last year and I think the level of strikers we need would cost big money, if we're talking about players who are coming to make a difference," said Moyes.

"If we're talking about coming to fill spaces in bursts it's relatively easy to do that - I can get anybody. But to try to get people who are not going to cost much money but will come and make a difference for Everton, that's not easy.”

Jonathan Pollockit is only a short term striker we need to solve r injury crisis, no need to buy anyone who will not play next year for us, still tink we need a quality winger!

James WilkinsonWe should definetly get Stephen Appiah, he is a defnsive midfielder which we desperately need and the good thing is that he is a free agent, so it is win-win. For strikers couldnt we get a loan on vagner love, or if we have like 3 mil, i think we should get owen, although he played for liverpool i think he would be a great signing especially for that fee

Linda AndersonGood news about Saha but considering his past how long can we expect him to remain injury free. Hopefully we can survive till January. I hope we dont go for Heskey why not Defoe if we can get the money. If I win on the Euro Lottery I will give moysie some.

Ray OwenMy first signing before transfer window opens, would be a football consultant? a man behind the scenes. who could network a quality pool of players? especialy on our budget? if WIGAN ATH can get in VALENCIA and PALACIOS, NEED QUALITY CONNECTIONS IN EUROPE AND SOUTH AMERICA.
