Make Goodison Special
David Moyes wants an explosive atmosphere for the visit of Benfica.
David Moyes says it'll be a special night at Goodison when Benfica visit on Thursday evening.
The Everton manager has also urged the fans to add to the explosive atmosphere in the ground on Bonfire night.
"Goodison's always been special to me," said Moyes. "We are fortunate here that we qualified for Europe last year and we are embracing the competition.
"We want to do as well as we can and the supporters are enjoying it. The fans know we need help against Benfica because it's a big game and we are playing against some really good players."
Benfica are top of Group I on goal difference with Everton second.
The Blues have already put the five-nil defeat in Lisbon behind them but Moyes admitted that they can't under estimate their opponents’ talent.
"I see the Benfica challenge as very much like when we faced Fiorentina a couple of years ago,” continued Moyes. “They went on to become a Champions League side.
"I think that's where Benfica are, they are a Europa League team at the moment but I can see them going on to play in the Champions League.
"That is the type of progression you want to see and how we also want to see Everton."

John HauAny chance we did have Billy back for this match? We could do with him playing more for us before the suspension start in the league, but this time we could be thankful to the international break as it gives us more time for our injured player to recover and also allowing Billy to play some international game for Russia to gain more match fitness.

Thursday 5th November 13:20 Report CommentGareth LewisJust been in Portugal working with some Porto fans, and they say that Benfica are awesome at home, but indifferent away - also they tend to let their heads drop when they concede. All we need is the early push to get the first goal, and they will give up. COYB, we can avenge the freak result in Lisbon!

thomas ainsworthBenfica are a good organised side but, were flattered by the side we had to put out.4 kids on the bench & 4 playing.Their manager will be aware of this and what happened to Fiorentina. Its all down to our back four.If they hold out the rest will come naturally.Lets make some noise tomorrow.its been far too quite in recent games.Look at our performance since that terrible game.BRING IT ON!

John HauBenfica might be in the Europa League, but in term of standard they are at a similar level as most of the Champion League team, we lost to them as they were in top form and we were short on number and lacking forms so, we lost badly, but beating them tomorrow would prove we are good enough against any team in Europe, so go for it! On a side note, it was a bad news to hear what happen to Arteta, hope this won't keep him away for too long! Now I am more concern when would we have Pienaar back, since Arteta is still a while away and Billy are suspensed for 3 matches, we going need some creativity from Pienaar, when would he be back?
