LATE CALL ON QUARTET

by Scott McLeod | Friday 21 March 2008, 13:27

Everton are sweating on the fitness of four senior players for Saturday's Premier League encounter with West Ham.

Andrew Johnson, Victor Anichebe, Manuel Fernandes and Tim Cahill are all major doubts for the game. Johnson suffered a groin strain in last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Fulham, whilst a hip injury prevented Anichebe figuring against the Cottagers.

He has continued to receive treatment this week and has not yet been ruled out for the weekend, whilst Tim Cahill has continued to receive treatment for the foot and hip problems that ruled him out against Fiorentina and Fulham. Manuel Fernandes has been out since the victory at Manchester City because of a groin injury and is also a doubt.

The manager has also confirmed that young striker James Vaughan will play no further part this season after undergoing keyhole surgery on a knee injury.

He told evertonfc.com: "The surgery went well but it is a long rehabilitation period for the player so he won't play again this season. Hopefully he will be back in time for pre-season. We are being careful with him because of the problems he has had with his knee in the past."

Iain Turner is also sidelined, as is Andy van der Meyde.

Everton from: Howard, Wessels, Hibbert, Neville, Jagielka, Yobo, Lescott, Valente, Baines, Osman, Arteta, Carsley, Pienaar, Gravesen, Fernandes, Cahill, Anichebe, Johnson, Yakubu, Rodwell.
