Keeper To Join Blues
Everton agree a deal to sign Jan Mucha at the end of the season.
Everton have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Jan Mucha from Legia Warsaw at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old Slovakian international will arrive on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling when his contract with the Polish side expires this summer.
He has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Toffees and will join on a 3-year deal at the end of the season.
Mucha has earned 13 caps for his country and has impressed in Poland after becoming the first-team regular in the wake of Lukasz Fabianksi's switch to Arsenal in 2007.
He will provide competition for first-choice stopper Tim Howard and is likely to arrive at Everton after this summer's World Cup.
Mucha earned his move to Warsaw in 2005 after twice winning the Slovakian league title with MSK Zilina.
The 6ft 3in custodian has played in excess of 70 times for Legia Warsaw, one of the most respected teams in Eastern Europe.

Michal SzymanowskiIt should be good deal. Certainly he is at the moment best GK in Polish league. I admit, I not following football in Poland with much interest, but still Jan doing well for Legia Warsaw - best defensive record in the league...again. Despite all positives, I think he will be permanent #2 to Howie, but at the same time he is light years ahead of Ian Turner and John Ruddy. I hope he will adapt to Premier League style. Lets face FACT that games in Poland are usually played at walking pace.

Sunday 24th January 10:18 Report CommentDan RoderickSounds a pretty good 2nd choice keeper to have. Im expecting Nash to depart and maybe Turner to stay out on loan or even be sold, as I dont think he's developed as much as Moyes would have hoped. But to have a first choice international goalkeeper providing competition for Howard, and getting him on a free transfer, can only be a good thing. Welcome Mucha.
