JOHNSON OUT

by Scott McLeod | Sunday 11 May 2008, 14:03

Andrew Johnson misses out on the final day of the season because of a groin strain.

The England international is not in the 16-man squad, with Yakubu and Victor Anichebe forming the strike partnership as Everton seek the result that will guarantee European football.

Youngster Daniel Gosling is included amongst the substitutes for the first time in a Premier League game and is joined by Jack Rodwell, who was named Academy Player of the Season this week.

Tony Hibbert's ligament injury provides Anichebe with the chance to start, with Yakubu replacing Johnson. They are the only changes from the side that started against Arsenal last weekend.

The bench is completed by Leighton Baines, Thomas Gravesen and Stefan Wessels. The German keeper will not be given a new contract after his move from Cologne last summer, whilst Gravesen's season-long loan from Celtic will be at an end after this fixture.

Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is without Joey Barton, because of the midfielder's mail conditions. Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen is joined in attack by Andrew Carroll, a young product of the Magpies' Academy system.
