Everton's on-loan Brazilian forward, Jo, is hoping to feature in his first Merseyside Derby on Sunday.
The 22-year-old is very much aware of the rivalry between the Blue and Red halves of the city and feels he is well-drilled having played in derby matches in his hometown and also Moscow earlier in his career.
He said: “I knew all about the rivalry when I came here.
“Obviously you chat and hear things about it but I’m well aware that it’s a massive, massive, derby game.
“My aim is to feature and be involved in some way.”
Hailing from Sao Paulo - one nickname for which is 'Terra da Garoa', which roughly translated means 'The Land of Drizzle', something else that will stand Jo in good stead - he managed to play in the big city derby there, coincidentally for a team with the moniker, 'Time do Povo' - People's Team - Corinthians.
“Palmeiras versus Corinthians was the big game for me in Brazil.
“I’m not saying that this isn’t a massive game, I’ve emphasised that already but over there is probably even more tension and more surrounding the whole occasion.
“From that point of view I believe it has prepared me well for this game.
“I’ve got good experience from those matches that can help me with the intensity of the Merseyside derby.
“Wherever you go in the world, if you’ve got two or more teams in a city there’s always going to be a good rivalry.”

Not a bad player to have on the bench but it's got to be either Yak & Saha or just 1 of them up front with Cahill with a free roll in midfield.

A bit harsh! Jo is a frustrating player; he has superb control and balance and should be turning defenders and getting a shot away, more often. For some reason he hasn't been managing it. Really hope you can start making your mark Jo.
