JAGS WELCOMES NEW BOY

Phil Jagielka says Landon Donovan will be an excellent addition to the squad when he joins Everton on loan.

The Club today confirmed that the USA international has been granted a work permit to sign for the Blues on a two-and-a-half month loan deal, beginning on January 2.

Jagielka, currently recovering from a serious knee injury, is looking forward to linking up with the American when he completes his rehabilitation.

And having seen him in action for his national side, Jags reckons Donovan will bring strong attributes to the Club, especially as David Moyes looks to add numbers to his squad.

"I've been watching the US team and seen how well they have done recently and he's been an integral part of that," Jagielka told evertonTV.

"He's a good player and hopefully he'll add some quality to the team. We've not got that many players at the moment, so he's another body with some quality in there.

"There's a few of us who have been out for a while now, and hopefully if we can all get back it will be like having some new players and we can kick on in the league.

Jagielka also gave an update on his injury recovery. And although he's not ready to target a date in particular for his return, he is hoping to be back early in 2010.

“It's going well, still quite slow but that's part and parcel of it at the moment,” he added.

“I've just got to wait, and hopefully a few weeks into the New Year I'll be able to start training and see where it goes from there.”
