Phil Jagielka will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to evertonfc.com, the Blues' head physio Mick Rathbone gave an update on the centre back, who ruptured his anterior cruciate in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
Jags will travel to London for the operation and will begin his rehabilitation on Thursday.
The early surgery date has come as good news to Rathbone, who is looking to get Jags back on the field sooner rather than later.
"We're going to London tomorrow and he will undergo surgery on Wednesday morning," he said.
"We've checked him out and he is obviously very upset. But he's philosophical, he's looking to get the operation out of the way now and looking forward to day one of the recovery process.
"I can't wait until the operation is done on Wednesday and I go and visit him on Thursday morning and it's day one of the recovery and we can start counting down until when he plays again.
"Until you actually get the surgery done, you're not on the road to recovery. We're very grateful to the surgeon, Andy Williams, in London who has fitted him in at late notice. He is considered one of the finest knee surgeons in Europe. He's used by a lot of the top players in the Premier League."
Despite the good news regarding the operation date, Rathbone highlighted the feeling of devastation at Finch Farm on Monday morning.
"It's absolutely knocked everybody for six. At the training ground this morning everyone was feeling it," he added.
"For the first thirty minutes after the game Jags was in a state of shock and then was very, very upset after that. What upset him was when he saw how upset the players, the coaches, the manager and the fans were.
"He's out of the FA Cup final and nobody can get him that back. But he's a tough guy, he will get on with it and he will hopefully be back as good as new as near as possible to the start of next season."

Dave BrewI feel really, really sorry for Jags. He's been one of our most consistent players for this season and didn't even get a mention in the PFA awards, that can't be right? Get well soon Jags, you will be sorely missed

Tuesday 28th April 15:58 Report CommentRobbie ParkerAbsolutely gutted, is the only way to describe how the fans will be feeling but I cant even begin to feel how Jags or the rest of the team for that matter will be feeling. Can I just say our boys team and staff alike have done extremely well this season and I couldn’t ask for more but doesn’t the growing list of injuries suggest firstly that we need some financial muscle to beef up our squad at close season to reduce our boys work load and secondly, am I the only person who is wondering if our training may need to be assessed? Could some of these injuries of been avoided by taking a second look at what we are doing at Finch Farm? Anyway I wish our injured boy a speedy recovery. COYB

Gerry QuinnGerry Quinn, Houston, Jags, I know it's of little compensation on missing the final, but just to let you know that Everton couldn't have made the final, or be in such a healthy league position without your brilliant 100% efforts for the Blues. Rest assured you will always be regarded as part of the Everton "team" that won the FA Cup 2009. I hope the op goes to plan and that your recovery is made speedier by the blues continued success. You ARE our number 1 centre-half, Jags...good luck, COYB

David ClarkVery unlucky Jags - you fully deserved to play in the final as you've had a superb season. We'll just have to make sure an extra winners medal is minted for you. Funnily enough (although I'm not laughing) I ruptured knee ligaments earlier on the Saturday morning. Medial (meniscus or collateral - awaiting scan results). Not quite as bad as your ACL injury, but believe me when I say I share your pain.
Monday 27th April 15:27 Report CommentNicola WellsWere so upset for your Jags,if anyone deserved a final medal you did. Wish you a speedy recovery, can't wait to see you playing in the blue shirt soon. Our player of the season.
