Tim Howard believes the team that stays focussed will win the derby showdown on Saturday.
The Everton goalkeeper has experienced the atmosphere of the Manchester derby and so he is well aware of the passion these occasions evoke but he stressed the importance of not getting too carried away on the pitch.
"The fans can enjoy the emotional side of it but as players you have to be a bit more level-headed," he reasoned.
"Of course, you have pride and you are prepared to run through a brick wall for your team-mates and it can be difficult to keep level-headed.
"But the team that does is more likely to enjoy success."
Howard is three matches into a season-long loan deal at Goodison and he knows that an Everton victory against their old rivals will be warmly greeted by his permanent employer as well as his temporary one!
