Hope For Cahill But Saha Out
Leon Osman also a doubt but captain Phil Neville could start.
David Moyes hopes to have Tim Cahill available for Saturday’s FA Cup Third Round tie with Carlisle United but the Blues Boss will be without Louis Saha.
The Frenchman missed the Bank Holiday clash with Burnley due to a hamstring problem, which is continuing to trouble him and he will watch from the sidelines.
Cahill, who was injured in the game against Owen Coyle’s side, has been nursing a sore ankle all week but with further treatment is expected to be available for selection.
Leon Osman, who scored the Blues’ winner in the third round victory over Macclesfield Town a year ago, is a doubt and there is no Joseph Yobo or Yakubu.
Both players have now departed from the African Cup of nations in Angola, despite Yobo not being available for Everton’s last five fixtures.
"He [Yobo] has gone out to the African Cup of Nations even though he was injured when he left us," said Moyes. "He is away now, so is Yakubu and we are without those two players."
Sylvain Distin remains sidelined with a hamstring problem and Brazilian striker Jo is also not in contention after being suspended by the Club for going awol.

The 22-year-old striker returned to Brazil prior to Christmas without permission from his manager, which has left Moyes disappointed and forced him to take appropriate action.
Phil Neville could start his first match following his return from a knee injury while Dan Gosling (hamstring), Mikel Arteta (knee) and Phil Jagielka (knee) are all missing.
