After Everton came within a whisker of defeating Chelsea, there are now two more home games to look forward to in the near future.

The Toffees were every inch the equal of Luiz Felipe Scolari's side on Monday evening, registering twice as many shots as their London opponents.

Indeed, visiting goalkeeper Petr Cech was widely acknowledged as the man of the match as Everton demonstrated some of the attacking flair that has been a feature of their best performances in recent times.

No better example of this was the 7-1 mauling of Sunderland last season, and the Black Cats are in town again on December 28 for a 2pm kick off.

The visit of the managerless Black Cats is the first of two consecutive home league games, with the Blues desperate to boost their points tally and make inroads towards the upper eschelons of the Premier League table.

Following Sunderland, Hull City visit Goodison on January 10.

The division's newcomers are the season's surprise package and currently sit one place and one point above the Toffees.

Victory against the Tigers would be vital.
