Everton show support for local servicemen

Everton Support Blue Servicemen

The Everton team marched out through an extended tunnel before the Stoke game on Sunday 4 October, which was formed by 22 serving blue military personnel from each of the three services.

All 22 soldiers, sailors and airmen were from the local area and are all keen Evertonians.  The special extended tunnel was a chance for the armed forces to acknowledge the support the community has shown over recent months.

AFCO (RAF) Chief Technician Bob Barrow, who is an Everton season ticket holder, said: “All the lads are proud servicemen, and they felt privileged to be able to represent their colleagues at Goodison on Sunday, many of whom are currently on operations in difficult parts of the world. The warmth of the reception we received from the fans and all the staff at Everton was fantastic.”

Ian Ross, Head of PR at Everton, said: “Everyone connected with Everton Football Club – players, management, Directors, staff and supporters – are immensely proud of those members of the Evertonian family who serve in the armed forces.  They are very special individuals – courageous, brave, dedicated and deeply committed to serving their Queen and their country.  This football club supports them unreservedly.”
