EVERTON IN CHILE
Everton in Chile are having their most exciting season for decades, with a great chance of winning the national championship.
On Thursday 22 May, the Ruleteros play at home in the second leg of their semi-final play-off against Universidad de Chile.
In the first leg, which was played at the National Stadium in Santiago on Sunday, Everton came away with a shock 3-1 win thanks to a hat-trick by Argentinian striker Ezequiel Miralles.
The winner of the tie will go through to the final against Nublense or Colo Colo.
If Everton win the title, it will be for the first time since 1976.
The Blues would then represent Chile in the Libertadores Cup, playing the champions of the other South American countries.
It follows a season of consolidation for Everton who, after a number of seasons back in the top flight, have reclaimed their position amongst Chile’s elite.
Former Chile national team coach and ex-Everton player Nelson Acosta took Everton to the Championship play-offs this season after finishing fifth in the league, where for large stretches of the season they were leaders.
You will be able to see a feature on the Chilean Everton on the Fifa Futbol Mundial on Sky Sports 1 at 5.30pm on Wednesday.
