Everton Album: Sharpy Strikes At Anfield
We re-live a spectacular derby-winning goal from 1985.
With this entry into the Everton Album we're taking you back to October 1984 and a famous 1-0 win at Anfield.
Graeme Sharp was the hero, scoring a stunner that sent the visiting Evertonians into raptures. So good was the strike, it would later be voted the BBC's 'Goal of the Season'.
Indeed, it drew praise from the unlikeliest of sources with Liverpool boss Joe Fagan saying at the time, "It was a good goal, worth winning any game."

"The most important thing was the result," Sharpy told evertonfc.com. "Everybody talks about the goal but the most important thing was the win.
"We were playing with the Adidas Tango balls and we had been training with them all week, so I knew that if you hit it well, it would fly.
"It sat up nicely for me and I thought, 'why not'. I had been hitting them all week in training.
"Fortunately for me it was good enough to beat [Bruce] Grobelaar.
"I think you know when you have had a clean strike of the ball, I knew it was on target and had half a chance.
"I controlled it and it bounced up nicely. I was never going to beat Mark Lawrenson for pace and I thought 'here's an opportunity for me to have a go'.
"It is always nice to score in derbies, but to have the winning goal and have it be a spectacular one was nice.
"It's nice when you hear people talking about their favourite Everton moments and that goal is amongst them.
"I don't replay it in my mind, but people show me it on their phones and things like that! I'm glad it meant so much to the supporters."
