Donovan's Welcome Goal
The American says his first goal was down to the backing of his team mates.
Landon Donovan puts his first Everton goal down to the backing he's had from his new team mates since arriving at Goodison.
The American international scored the Blues second in the 2-0 win over Sunderland on Wednesday just 25 days after touching down in the UK from Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old says his experience on Merseyside has been very different to the one in Germany last year during his loan spell with Bayern Munich.
"It is a great feeling to get my first goal here especially because the team has won," Dononvan told evertonTV. "They have made feel at home here.
"It was a lot different last year when I went to Germany. It took me a while there to get going but I feel better here."
The forward got his Everton account up and running in the 19th minute at Goodison thanks to a left-footed strike 12 yards out.
Donovan says he is starting to feel at home now with the style of play.
"I have got more comfortable over the weeks learning where to be and how to run. Bainesy played a good ball to Tim and we know in most of those situations Tim is going to win the ball.
"Louis made a great run across and opened up a hole for me and from there I just hit the target."
While Donovan has experienced two wins and a draw in the Premier League since arriving at the Club, he admits he was disappointed to exit the FA Cup in the fourth round.
But adds that it was key the Blues return to winning ways quickly.
"As an athlete when you lose you want the games to come quick. Having this game on the Wednesday meant we didn't have time to worry about what happened on Saturday," Donovan explained.
"It was time for us to move on and I thought our reaction was great. We are disappointed in Saturdays' result so we wanted to do better.
"We are happy tonight but we have another big one on Saturday against Wigan."

Bryan FordIf they can work out a four year deal to keep him here through his prime.. it would be great.. for Everton, Landon, and the USMNT... The reason he struggled in Germany was the fact that the players over there were more selfish.. they didn't want him to come in and take a spot.. we know the players here at Everton are for the club being successful.. they made him feel welcomed.. and he has responded with very good play. His pace is great and adds a fantastic weapon.. there aren't many defenders in the EPL who can run with him..

Mikel ArreguiI must admit I'm surprised with Donovan, he's been much better than I expected so far. If he continues this way I hope we'll find a way to keep him! I've heard that we'd have to negociate with MLS rather than with LA Galaxy, it that true? It sounds a bit odd to me!
Friday 29th January 19:26 Report CommentJack DaviesWhat a Player! He's been brilliant in every match he's played in so far. It's nice to see that finally one of our loan deals has kept their form after the first couple of games, and i hope he decides to stay after the deal is finished, he's a welcome addition to the squad and i hope he can continue to make a strong impact !

chris skillicornIt is a rare event that a player walks straight into a team and has such an immediate impact, the lad looks like he has been playing for us for years. I have two wishes this summer, 1) LD decides he wants to join Everton and 2) LA Galaxy, out of sympathy only ask £5m for him, he has played so well for us and had such a big impact, in a simple twist of fate it's for that very reason that his price tag has just increased!! LD you know you want to stay, you are a blue through and through.

Paul TiemensHe looks a to be a natural in the famous blue number '9' shirt doesn't he? At 27 he's at his peak and surely no one would stand in his way if he wanted to stay at this stage of his career. Also we can all see that there's much more to come from this very talented player.

Mark LynchGot to say it was a well taken goal, hope this is the first of a few for you, and i am with everyone else, it would be fantastic if we could sign you full time. Well done to Timmy too, bout time tho lol... COYB...
Thursday 28th January 22:19 Report CommentSoccer LAOk- here's how i see it. Jozy Altidore- only 19 (and a player to keep an eye on in the WC) signed w Villareal for 10M USD which is 6.2M GBP. MLS will ask for double for LD which would be 12M pounds if they they play hardball. problem is all US fans will hate MLS if they don't push this deal through. I think MLS will have to bend to the pressure. He currently makes 1M USD w Galaxy but has great endorsement contracts with Nike and Gatorade. I think an offer would be 10-12 GBP. Which is well worth a player of his caliber. He's been offered by many top teams but I think he would only choose Everton. I see it happening. We here love the Blues die hard already- IT HAS TO HAPPEN!

Gary EvertonWell in Donny lad, youve settled in really fast and im made up you got your goal was unfortunate to get a second, hopefully this is the start to many more goals. I also hope you sign with us permanently, to the ppl asking how much he would cost - i read somewhere that it would cost something like 2.5 mil to get him out of his contract but as its the MLS who owns the player and not LA they could be funny about it

Bryan CostelloI would really love to see us sign him up in the summer.I think Landon has a fantastic attitude and works really hard for the team, he takes the pressure of the likes of Piennar and is beginning to forge a strong partenership with Timmy Cahill, roll on Wigan!!

Brian FarrellLD would be quite an expensive player I reckon. LA are hardly strapped for cash and I'm sure he's on a good wage.

Robin DaviesIt's only taken 4 matches for Donovan and Cahill to look like the have been playing for years. LD was looking for the run off Cahill every time the ball came in and it was FANTASTIC to watch. The most depressing part of having LD here is the fact he will have to go back at the end of his loan spell as we don't have the funds to afford him :( his price tag has to be at least the £20/25 million and we don't have another Lescott to flog to the rich kids in sky blue......Maybe he can be an asylum seeker??? Very well played Donovan just like a true blue. IN MOYES WE TRUST COYB
Thursday 28th January 19:29 Report CommentBrooks BourlandAs I have been saying for the last year in the Blue Room Everton needs to sign Landon on a permanent basis, as an American it would be great for one of our best to play for the Peoples' Club. Moyes please please sign him if possible. Keep them coming Landon!

Thursday 28th January 17:50 Report CommentSoccer LAthe mls and galaxy will only say he is returning because to say otherwise is a blow to the league. but i think if LD and Everton are mutual at the end of the loan than an offer will be made. the mls will ask a decent amount.. and he is worth it. he still has not hit his stride. i suffer watching him outclass every other player in America, he needs to be a Blue

simon readdavid, if you can sign this player, in the games that he has played he has been amazing. having heard that he didn't do very well in the german league i was apprehensive as to whether he could cut it in the prem, well i have been trulney shown and he should be playing in the best league, for the peoples club.
