CRUEL BLOW FOR LADIES

A late goal denied Everton Ladies a valuable draw with FFC Frankfurt in the Uefa Cup.

A 92nd minute winner from Conny Pohlers snatched a win for the German side.

Mo Marley rang the changes following the 2-1 defeat to Belgian hosts Rapide Wezemaal on Thursday. Goalkeeper Rachel Brown, new signing Natasha Dowie, Jill Scott and Emily Westwood all returned to the starting 11.

The Blues began the game well and took the lead in the opening stages courtesy of England midfielder Fara Williams.

On 29 minutes, Frankfurt levelled the score through World Cup star Birgit Prinz.

Deep into stoppage time, Everton conceded a late goal to condemn another 2-1 defeat in the competition.

The result leaves Everton bottom of Group 3 with one game remaining.
