CAHILL SIGNS IN
Everton have completed the signing of Tim Cahill from Millwall for an undisclosed fee.
The two clubs agreed the transfer on Thursday and after successfully completing a medical the Australian international put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Goodison on Friday afternoon.
Cahill is delighted to finally get a move to a big club like Everton and said it was 'a dream come true' to finally sign the contract.
"First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who has played a part in this move," he told evertonfc.com.
"It's an absolute dream for me. The manager and the Chairman have been fantastic. They've told me about their ambitions, and their visions for the club match my own.
"I desperately wanted to come to Everton and to improve myself and the club, but most of all it's an absolute dream come true.
"It's very emotional for myself, because it's been a long-term battle to come to a place like this and I'm just very happy and very fortunate to come to a club like Everton."
Cahill, who scored 12 goals for Millwall last season, is David Moyes' second signing of the summer following the acquisition of Markus Bent from Ipswich, and the midfielder admitted that he can't wait to show the Goodison faithful just what he can do.
"I want to show Everton fans that I am an honest player," he said. "I will work for the full 90 minutes and I will give everything, regardless of whether we're winning 2-0 or losing 2-0.
"I watched the club last season finish so low in the Premiership table, I know there are a few problems, but to still have the support they have week in, week out, is enough passion to drive any team forward - and that's the reason why Everton will always be a strong club and will go on to bigger and better things.
"That's the reason why I want to be here, because when you're low the fans support you - and when you're high the fans will be there too. That's the main thing.
"I know a lot of footballers don't look at it that way. But this is my dream move, I'm so excited just to be a part of Everton."
Moyes has described Cahill as 'one of the best midfield players in the First Division last season'. However, the 24-year-old will miss the end of Everton's pre-season and the start of the Premiership campaign after he was included in his country's squad for the Olympic games in Athens next month.
