Cahill A Doubt For Carlisle
Sore ankle means midfielder will be monitored ahead of FA Cup clash.
Everton will closely monitor the fitness of Tim Cahill ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Carlisle United.
The Australian limped off during Monday's 2-0 win against Burnley at Goodison Park with a sore ankle and was replaced by fit-again captain Phil Neville.
David Moyes reported after the game that Cahill had been removed as a precaution and the Everton medical team will assess the 30-year-old’s progress in the coming days.
Moyes is also hopeful of handing Neville a further runout after the midfielder reported no problems following his 30-minutes against the Clarets. It was the midfielder's first appearance since suffering knee ligament damage at Fulham in September.
“It's great to have Phil back because he's so important to us,” said Moyes. “It's going to take him time to get up to match speed so we've got to be careful that we're not rushing him.
“He's keen to get back which is exactly what we want and hopefully we'll look to see if he's available for the game on Saturday and if he is that will be good for us.”
