One of Everton’s 1966 FA Cup heroes, Brian Harris, has passed away.
One of Everton’s 1966 FA Cup heroes, Brian Harris, has passed away aged 72.
Harris, a hugely popular versatile player, made 360 appearances for Everton, scoring 29 goals.
He died peacefully on Sunday in Chepstow after a short illness.
At the specific request of his family, Brian’s funeral service will take place at the St Luke’s church adjacent to Goodison Park on a date yet to be decided.
Born in Bebington, Brian joined The Toffees from Port Sunlight in 1954.
He operated effectively in a variety of positions for Everton and played 27 times during the 1962-63 League Championship campaign.
Five months after playing his part in the never-to-be-forgotten Wembley success over Sheffield Wednesday, Brian left Goodison to join Cardiff City.
