Blues Sign Jo

Blues Sign Jo

Everton have agreed a deal to bring Brazilian international Jo to Goodison Park on loan.

The Manchester City striker has moved to Everton until the end of the season, bolstering manager David Moyes' striking options.

Officials from the two clubs met in the centre of Manchester on Saturday night to discuss the details of the move, Everton's first during the January transfer window.

Jo agreed personal terms with Everton today and arrived at Goodison Park earlier to complete the loan move ahead of the 5pm transfer deadline.

Jo Signs

Unfortunately the striker will not be available for the Blues to face Liverpool on Wednesday night as he is cup-tied after featuring for Man City in their third round clash with Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old forward was signed by Mark Hughes from CSKA Moscow last summer for £18m.

He has made 12 starts for City, netting three goals.

A Brazilian international with three caps, he made his name by netting 30 goals from 50 starts in the Russian top flight for CSKA Moscow following his signing from homeland club Corinthians in 2006.

Moyes has made no secret of his desire to secure the signing of a striker, with Yakubu and James Vaughan sidelined for the remainder of the campaign and Louis Saha still recovering from a hamstring injury.

He will wear the number 11 shirt for the Toffees.

John CoadyHey Jack Seery, decent shout on Kuranyi. Unlucky we just left it too late ey? That would av bin nice. Never mind though im sure that Jo will do the biz with a bit of decent guidance from the gaffer.

simon conleyjust typed jo in youtube and theres a video of him scoring goals for cska moscow its about 8 mins long, theres some good goals and he look like he has the lot, skill, pace good in the air you can see why man city paid tht much for him, now if moyes gets him playing like he did for moscow he could easily be a 20 goal a season man if anyone can get him playing well its moyes

John CoadyI wanted Jo before City got him but with the price we were never really gonna stand a chance. I think its a great move an im well chuffed. He hasnt been managed properly at City. A good manager will get the best out of a good player. Look him up on youtube. Im tellin yer the boy knows where the goal is!!

David WrightI personally think it is a great signing, he is fast and is also a tall lad, so it makes us even more dangerous from set pieces )although we r unstoppable rite now), but i thought we could hav gotten someone else (like bent or quaresma on loan)

Monday 2nd February 21:45 Report Comment

jack seerygood signing i think. a player who scored 30 goals in 50 games in a hard russian league in the cold cant be bad player! if he gets a run in the team he will score for fun also city payed nearlly 20 mill for a 21 yr old lad so he cant be bad lol also it takes pressure of timmy cahill on the scoring side of his game. this will help tim in other areas of his game that can help the team . at 6 foot plus Jo gives us a height advantage and physical presence in the box. hopefully THE NUMBER 11 will score HOW HE CAN to help us cement tht spot we need. we were linked with a move for Kevin Kurányi from schalke who was also a striker but Jo will do. a midfielder would of helped i thought like kevin nolan or Mark Davies( 20 yrs old from wolves )now at bolton signed for 0.5 million would of been a deal we should of seen and done hopefully a win on weds ! come on you blue boys

Monday 2nd February 17:31 Report Comment

Paul Ellamworth a gamble i reckon. last summer i would have said he was a very good player, although way too pricey but not so sure now. lets hope moyes can do his usual trick and get the best from jo - he would do well to listen and learn from the gaffer. stil think vagner love as the better of the 2 but maybe having jo will convince mr. love to join us now!!

Emyr JonesGlad to hear we`ve signed a striker. But what about Gyan and Bent? Jo has hardly lit up the premiership at man city, but I suppose if anyone can get the best out of him David Moyes can. Could this be another piece in the jigsaw? Hope its a key one and he scores 20 goals for us! Come on the mighty Toffees

Monday 2nd February 14:43 Report Comment

Peter BennettNo suggestion of any option to buy come the summer, a little disappointing because Moyes usually likes to do this. Having said that if it was a case of not being able to agree this, better to have him here than not as we need cover for the remainder of the season.

Monday 2nd February 14:41 Report Comment

Frank CarrollNot sure about this one...Jo cant get a game at City...and when he came on againest us at Eastlands recently...well the word donkey is not far away...however in Moysie we trust and if anyone can turn a dud into a half decent played he and his right hand man can...so lets not be too negative...just tell him Davie we dont want lazy men here....work hard do your best and thats all we ask....welcome to Goodison Jo !
