BLUES REVEAL VOGEL TALKS

by Scott McLeod | Tuesday 17 July 2007, 14:01

Johann Vogel is set to arrive at Goodison for talks over a transfer to Everton.

The experienced Swiss international, who played in La Liga for Real Betis last term, has also enjoyed spells with Grasshoppers Zurich, PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan during his distinguished career.

Everton chief-executive Keith Wyness told evertonfc.com: "We are in negotiations with the player and he will be coming shortly to discuss personal terms with a view to signing a potential contract."

Vogel, 30, has 89 international caps for Switzerland and has experience in European competition as well as appearing for his country at Euro 1996, Euro 2004 and the World Cup 2006, where he captained the side.

He is renowned as a holding midfield player with the ability to break up attacks and maintain possession of the ball.

Good signing a player with experience in europe. I still think we need a few more players and a big star at that we need to splash the cash a bit more. COYB

Great another signing. I think we need 3 or 4 new players though if we are to have a decent UEFA CUP run. If we dont it will be 2006 all over again. Come on Moyesey. Buy Buy Buy! Rossy St Helens

Good signing, we could do with some more european experience. I still think some proper wingers are needed though, A.J would score twice as many goals.

Good signing moyesy, In truth Im a little disappointed that dave nugent has gone to pompey but signing Vogel will give us alot more cover in the defensive area which can only be good when we face the likes of bayern etc in europe next term. Still feel we need somebody to help with AJ upfront!!

This may be a good buy since it is a free transfer, but I would rather see Moyes bring in a quality left back and left mid.
