BLUES REVEAL VOGEL TALKS

Johann Vogel is set to arrive at Goodison for talks over a transfer to Everton.

The experienced Swiss international, who played in La Liga for Real Betis last term, has also enjoyed spells with Grasshoppers Zurich, PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan during his distinguished career.

Everton chief-executive Keith Wyness told evertonfc.com: "We are in negotiations with the player and he will be coming shortly to discuss personal terms with a view to signing a potential contract."

Vogel, 30, has 89 international caps for Switzerland and has experience in European competition as well as appearing for his country at Euro 1996, Euro 2004 and the World Cup 2006, where he captained the side.

He is renowned as a holding midfield player with the ability to break up attacks and maintain possession of the ball.

peter sargisonvogel is quality and dont forget if van the man shows anywhere near his inter form we have made another quality signing , vander meyde can be the surprise package this year

Wednesday 18th July 10:55 Report Comment

Sean SadikotGood signing, we could do with some more european experience. I still think some proper wingers are needed though, A.J would score twice as many goals.

Wednesday 18th July 09:03 Report Comment

Neil ThomasGood signing moyesy, In truth Im a little disappointed that dave nugent has gone to pompey but signing Vogel will give us alot more cover in the defensive area which can only be good when we face the likes of bayern etc in europe next term. Still feel we need somebody to help with AJ upfront!!

Wednesday 18th July 06:39 Report Comment

Josh RumleyThis may be a good buy since it is a free transfer, but I would rather see Moyes bring in a quality left back and left mid.

Tuesday 17th July 16:50 Report Comment

Richard WeeGood buy, since it is a free transfer. Vogel was at Milan as cover for Kaka and Pirlo. He is a quality player to have. Hope he will sign!

John MurrayIn Moyes we trust!

Tuesday 17th July 16:13 Report Comment

Rob BakerExperienced Swiss captain with loads of European clubs on his CV coupled with the fact he's free, equals good squad signing to me!

Tuesday 17th July 16:05 Report Comment

Anthony TowersGreat news! I have seen him play a few time over the years. He has class and will certainly be an asset to the club.

Tuesday 17th July 16:00 Report Comment

John GeraghtyCan't complain as it is a good free signing and he also has the experience for the uefa cup. But still doesn't have the quality player to help us improve as a team

Tuesday 17th July 15:59 Report Comment

Kevin SmythWell if he's free you can't complain......is 30 a bit old to be making the leap from Italian football to English football though? Would like to see him succeed though, a sort of classier, more hirsute version of Lee Carsley........bring on the UEFA Cup!

Tuesday 17th July 15:25 Report Comment

CHRIS LAWLOROn a free transfer, its not so much a risk, but a cheap way to increase squad numbers. This alone wont appease the need to buy quality players to take us forward. There's still time!

Tuesday 17th July 15:21 Report Comment

Damian BradleyWhen Grasshoppers played Boro in the UEFA Cup 2 years ago, he was far and away their best player. I will be pleased if he signs.

Tuesday 17th July 15:15 Report Comment

Daniel MillerGood stuff - an experienced player and no fee. Not quite £7.5M for Reo-Coker is it - as an example of ludicrous fees for moderate players!! TD

Tuesday 17th July 15:11 Report Comment

Mat Thompsonfinally some good news, ive seen vogel play a few times and he looks a very good player, just need some attacking options now.

Tuesday 17th July 15:05 Report Comment

clinton davidsHe has the experience we need at Everton. We also need to get that big name signing so come on David Moyes.

Tuesday 17th July 14:58 Report Comment

Good news... we need to add some experience in key positions and the fact that the lads free means we can spend our money on other targets. Let's hope there are a few more like this to follow!!

Tuesday 17th July 14:49 Report Comment

Michael Livingstoni think this player will add depth to the squad but i really think that we do need to buy that bit of quality for the coming campaign!!! c'mon the blues!!! lescott for england

Tuesday 17th July 14:49 Report Comment

Chris LangVogel would be a good signing and add's more experience to are squad.

Tuesday 17th July 14:44 Report Comment

Aaron SmithI feel this is very good experience especially for the UEFA cup, but ont he other hand i also feel that this may be a step int he wrong direction. it is still good depth for our VERY small squad.

Tuesday 17th July 14:44 Report Comment

Dean GainfordI think that he could become a good player for everton. He as a vast amount of experience at international and european level. He obviously has talent if milan signed him and he never really got much of a chance due to pirlo and gattusso. I think would be a good signing all we need now is 2 wingers and a left back.

Tuesday 17th July 14:44 Report Comment

Rachael CotgraveI'll be surprised if anything comes of this

Tuesday 17th July 14:42 Report Comment

shane boylanAny international on a free is good business, in my view. a bit unknown but lets hope you turn out better than Per Koldrup and at least get a season out of ya!! welcome to the peoples club!!

Tuesday 17th July 14:42 Report Comment

Lee LeadbetterIs he good like, he is free transfer ?

Tuesday 17th July 14:42 Report Comment

paul edmondssounds like a good player , european pedigree , but i think we need more attacking players to get us more goals .

Tuesday 17th July 14:37 Report Comment

Andrew HalpinVogel? 30-years-old and plays for Switzerland national team. I'm not expecting a superstar to sign but this wasn't what I was hoping for. We need players younger than 30 if they haven't played in Premiership before. Too old.

Tuesday 17th July 14:32 Report Comment
