BLUES PARTNER RIVERHOUNDS
Everton have entered a partnership with US soccer club, Pittsburgh Riverhounds to help develop an Academy in the state of Western Pennsylvania.
The new partnership will help the American club build an Academy and learn to develop youth players, the Everton Way.
A key part of the programme will be from Everton Academy’s player development website – evertonway.com. The new site reveals exactly how Everton coach players to Premiership standard and is packed with video clips, audio commentary and editorial walkthroughs to take players and coaches through the Academy journey.
Online learning is set to become a central part in building an Academy philosophy across the Atlantic and help sustain a proven programme in player development.
Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Head Coach and General Manager, Gene Klein said: “This is an historic day for soccer players and coaches throughout the Western Pennsylvania region. The players will get exclusive training that utilises the programme and methods of one of the world’s leading organisations in player development.”
As part of the package, Everton coaches will act as technical advisors to the Riverhounds and subsequent visits will be put in place to ensure the new Riverhhounds Academy develops over a 3-year period.
Blues Academy coach, Tosh Farrell kicked things off with a football clinic at the Riverhounds’ club facility in Pittsburgh. The clinic answered coaching questions and demonstrated the Everton Way coaching philosophy.
Tosh said: “"This is an exciting time, not only for Riverhounds but also for Everton Football Club. This opportunity allows us to put Everton's proven coaching philosophy - The Everton Way - into place over a sustained period.
“Evertonway.com is the perfect tool to support player development and gives anyone across the world the chance to develop using the methods of a proven Premiership youth programme.”
