Awards: As They Happened

Who will win the coveted Player of the Season prize?

Awards: As They Happened

9.07pm: As soon as the knives and forks return to the tables we'll be underway with the main awards. A list of honourable guests has been read out, including winners of Everton's previous FA Cup winning teams, former managers and the Everton Ladies who came so close to winning the title last weekend.

9.04pm: "Every time I watch our beloved Everton they play with passion. It makes me so proud. The team is fantastic and David Moyes a hero." Adi, Burton on Trent

9.00pm: "We are the epitome of the word 'team'. The players, fans, board and staff truly make us The People's Club. Upward and onward towards glory by winning the Cup. From there a top four finish next season with another cup to boot." Paul Muldoon

8.51pm: Apologies Ladies and Gents, there's a small break in play while dinner is served. Fantastic spring rolls.

8.42pm: Bill Kenwright: "There will never be another football club like Everton." Is it just the hairs on my neck?

8.35pm: Mr Kenwright finishes his speech to another rousing round of applause. Every single first-team player got a mention and it's fair to say the chairman is overwhelmed at what has been achieved this season. He saved a blushing Phil Jagielka until last and the mere mention of his name raised everyone in St George's Hall to their feet.

8.33pm: Refresh this page regularly to keep up-to-date with all the goings on at the Awards night.

8.30pm: "I think everyone involved with Everton should be very proud of what has been achieved this season, and may we look forward to the following couple of years. I get the feeling they could be very successful." Ray Moss, West Derby

8.25pm: Bill Kenwright takes to the stage to give a personal tribute to each of the players in the current squad. Don't forget to email in your comments and tributes to web.team@evertonfc.com. The best will be publish right here.

8.23pm: "My father was a seven-days-a-week manager," says Joyce, Harry Catterick's daughter. Sums up the dedication that helped him lead the Club to two league titles and an FA Cup.

8.22pm: ...Harry Catterick. Joyce, the daughter of the late legendary manager, comes up to receive the award on behalf of her father. He's the man who led Everton to the 1966 FA Cup. I wonder if David Moyes will be able to say he's matched that achievement a fortnight from now?

8.21pm: The first award task of the evening is to name this year's inductee into the list of Everton Giants. And the winner is....

8.20pm: So who's going to win what? The full list of awards is below. The big one, of course, is the Player of the Year. Just a few contenders for that one.

8.15pm: The evening begins with a video of this season's highlights. Dan Gosling's goal against Liverpool receives the biggest cheer of all. Could it be a contender for the Goal of the Season award?

8.10pm: There's a standing ovation for David Moyes as he makes his way to the head table. So many of the Everton greats past and present are here this evening - and to a man they applauded the current boss.

7.57pm: If you'd like to make a comment on any of the awards throughout the evening get in touch by emailing web.team@evertonfc.com. We'll then publish the best comments in the live commentary.

7.55pm: Refresh this page regularly to keep up-to-date with all the goings on at the Awards night.

7.53pm: Good evening and welcome to evertonfc.com and our live coverage of the 2008/09 End of Season Awards night. Suited and booted, the players arrived on the blue carpet just moments ago. Stick with us throughout the evening to find out all the big winners first...

Jack DaviesJags and Fellaini really deserved their awards. I couldn't be happier for them, they both definitely played incredibly well all season, but my congratulations go to all who've won awards, but especially Phil Jagielka . He's been our best player all Season, and as always played to his full ability. Well done Jags!!!!!!

Tuesday 19th May 08:42 Report Comment

Nick XenosCongrats to all who won an award this evening. If I had it my way, then the entire squad and the management team would receive an award for such a great season, under trying circumstances. I may be biased but I can't think of any other team that deserves to win the FA Cup more than Everton FC. Good luck boys and well done on your achievements so far. Onwards and upwards!

Mark JonesThe best thing about being an Everton fan is taht we have a team and a manager that we can say we are proud to support. There's no diving, no complaining, no arguing with referees, no cheating - just a bunch of guys who are real sportsmen and who give it their all every single time they pull on the shirt. Love every single one of them!
