David Moyes was left frustrated after Everton lost 1-0 to Liverpool.
The Everton manager saw his side go down to a 55th minute Dirk Kuyt goal at Anfield on Saturday.
His frustration was compounded by the fact that Liverpool were reduced to 10 men in the first half.
Moyes said: "We didn't play badly and didn't deserve to lose the game, so that is disappointing.
"There were no real problems with the performance. I have told the players we will keep doing it - we just didn't have quite enough at the top end of the pitch today."
The Blues boss was unhappy with the way in which Everton conceded to the 10 men of Liverpool early in the second half.
"It can be more difficult against 10 men and I knew if Liverpool got a goal it would be difficult," he continued. "They were always going to sit back so it was key for us not to lose a goal.
"We gave away three corners early in the second half and if you do that you can always give away a goal."
Moyes is now tasked with preparing his side for the visit of Chelsea on Wednesday.
"We are playing another top team," he continued. "We can't say it will be an easy win, it will be a tough game."

I would entirely agree with Mark Hooley. I agree that we were rubbish (and the opposition was NO better!) PERHAPS? we might play better against a team which plays football ie Chelsea? Let's have a PREMIERSHIP game on Wednesday NOT garbage.

I was clearly watching a different game because I thought we were rubbish. We lacked innovation and quite frankly we deserve better from a class Everton team. If we can outplay the richest club in the world how on earth do we loose to a mediocre red side? (Oh yes, Howard's usual inability to deal with crosses)

Yeap, we had our first shot on goal in the 88min after playing 60 min 11 vs 10 and we made a very, very ordinary Liverpool side looking like world beaters once again. We definitely deserved something and it was what we got boss.

Now we have most players available, can we raise the bar a bit, please? Sure, "we didn't play badly", but we certainly did not play well enough.
