MOYES PLEASED

Boss delighted with 3-0 Carling Cup victory.

MOYES PLEASED

David Moyes believes there are plenty of positives to take from the 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

A brace from James McFadden and a goal from Yakubu secured the Blues a passage into the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

It took until the 58th minute for the deadlock to be broken courtesy of McFadden and the Goodison chief was pleased with his side keeping their first clean sheet of the season.

“It was a bonus keeping our first clean sheet of the season,” Moyes told evertonfc.com.

“Alan Stubbs and Nuno Valente played their parts and I have got to praise them for getting that.

“We did not scale the heights we wanted to in the first half and probably Phil Neville was the difference. I thought his contribution was fantastic. It got us forward and we passed the ball better.”

The Blues boss was quick to praise Brian Laws’ side but admits the result will give the Blues confidence looking ahead to Middlesbrough.

“The result will give us confidence and we have been needing to keep a clean sheet and score some goals,” he said.

“Maybe the result flattered us a little bit but at this moment in time we are looking at little bits to hold on too.

“The fans were incredible. I am glad we got the goals in front of the fans.”

christopher joneseverton have to build on this defensive sucess be a tight unit going forward and shoot on sight {dont be afraid} everton players need to look to there strengths and help others who are not as talented the blues are a top six team and more they just need to belive in there ability. true blue and not seen through rose tinted glasses
