Roberto Martinez is hoping his side can prove they are ready for the Premier League campaign ahead when they face SC Paderborn on Saturday.

The German outfit ended last season with promotion to the top-flight, just like Everton's opening-day opponents Leicester City.

And in taking his players to the Benteler Arena ahead of next week's trip to the King Power Stadium, Martinez believes the contest will complete a pre-season of testing exercises.

Speaking to evertontv on Friday, the Toffees chief said: "We had a really good flight over here and couldn't wait to get on the football pitch to have a sharp training session to prepare for the game.

"The hospitality at Paderborn has been brilliant and everything helped us have a nice workout.

"They are probably a little ahead of where we are, so it's going to be a good test and challenge.

"We expect a good crowd and that will make it a perfect preparation for what we will face at Leicester City on the opening day of the season.

"All in all, it will be a good way of finishing our friendlies."

Watch all the action from Germany live on evertontv (3pm kick-off UK time) for just £3.99. Purchasers also gain access to the full match on demand and exclusive highlight packages soon after the game.
