Blues Begin Milk Cup Campaign
Young Blues start with 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough.
Everton coach Sean Lundon was pleased with his young Everton side as they kicked off their Milk Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough.
The Blues are in Northern Ireland competing in the junior section of the prestigious youth competition, which is for boys born in 1999 or later.
With a point already on the board, the young Toffees can now look forward to a contest against Brazilian giants Corinthians on Tuesday, before completing their group fixtures against County Fermanagh on Wednesday.
"We've bought a young group of lads out here this year and we're pleased with that start," said Lundon. "We started really well and scored a good goal early on. We then conceded an equaliser but took the lead again when one of our players ran through from nearly his own half and produced a really good finish.
"We couldn't quite hold on and conceded again right at the end but, as I say, they're a young group - so much so most of them will be able to come back again next year.
"We've now got Corinthians and we watched them yesterday and they're a very strong side. But it's a great experience for these lads.
"The whole competition is great for us because it allows us to come over here for a week, play a game every day and give the lads a taste of what it's like to go away as a senior player. They need to eat the right things, rest properly and prepare for different types of opposition.
"We also get to know a little bit more about the lads and they get to know us a little better as well."
