McGeady: Preparation Is Vital
Winger says pre-season schedule will boost Club's Euro campaign.
Aiden McGeady believes Everton's pre-season schedule will help their Europa League quest when it gets underway in September.
The squad have visited Austria and Thailand over the past fortnight and have a trip to Germany to play SC Paderborn to come on Saturday 9 August.
There are also the games against La Liga outfit Celta Vigo and Portuguese giants FC Porto before the new Premier League season kicks off in three weeks.
And McGeady says facing varying types of opponents and travelling to different countries is good preparation ahead of the Blues' continental adventure.
“It’s all good preparation really,” the former Celtic man told evertontv.
“I heard last week we were going to have the trip to Germany and that it was going to be similar to the way we would play a Europa League game, with flying in, training at night and playing the game the following day, then getting ourselves back to mimic what it would be like.
“It does get you into that routine. The actual travelling part isn’t that enjoyable but it’s good getting away, to play games in different countries which breaks the pre-season up a bit.”

McGeady signed on at Goodison Park in January after swapping Spartak Moscow for Everton.
The winger, who had spent four years in Russian football, admits he is a player who likes to sample different cultures.
“I like getting abroad and I like seeing other parts of the world,” he continued. “I’ve been to Australia but never this part [Thailand].
“The only thing about this trip is that it’s quite short so we won’t have a lot of time to get about but normally in pre-seasons in the past you go away for 10 or 12 days. I always seem to enjoy those trips.
“I didn’t really know what to expect from Thailand and Bangkok but so far so good.”
