Grant's Austria Update: Tuesday
Everton Under-21s midfielder's pre-season blog from Obertraun.
Monday was our first full day here in Obertraun so we got up nice and early at 6.30am.
We went for our first run through the forest at 7am which was useful in getting the legs going. It was a good run and an enjoyable start to the day.
After that, we had breakfast at 8am followed by our first training session of the day at 10.30am.
It was a good session, but tough. There was a lot of technical work, passing and moving and things like that. We enjoyed it and obviously it's a lot better when the sun comes out, but that makes it harder.
In the afternoon we had another session involving 5-a-side games. Unfortunately I was on the losing team and that comes at a price.
Everyone loves the 30-second runs from one end of the pitch and back!
They've got to be done though and it's all good for fitness, but it's best not to lose!
All the lads are looking sharp. They're buzzing to be back and raring to go.
As it's my third time here, I've got some experience of the place, but it's been good to see the new ones taking to the place well.
They're all enjoying it so much and a few of the younger lads have come up to the Under-21s, stepped up and took things in their stride. They were brilliant.
It's nice to be able to get on the bikes here and ride out to places nearby. The scenery is great and they also help with getting to training sessions when you're feeling lazy!
Last night, we had a meeting to sort the fines out for the season. We got there in the end with what amounts would be suitable for certain actions.
It's going to be an interesting year and we'll be donating that money to charity, which is really nice. I've got a feeling they'll be getting quite a bit of money going off our track record!
