Ross Barkley’s display for England against Ecuador receives universal praise in Thursday’s newspapers.
The Everton man is rated as the Three Lions’ man of the match in almost every national paper.
The Daily Mirror describes Barkley as a ‘prince’ who is looking to ‘wear a crown’ at the World Cup.
The Daily Telegraph claim that Barkley’s performance has created a selection ‘conundrum’ for Roy Hodgson as the midfielder brings ‘options galore’ for the England boss.
The article goes on to say that Barkley was able to fulfil the number 10 role better against Ecuador than Wayne Rooney did in the 3-0 victory over Peru last Friday.
In the Times, Barkley’s performance is summarised as ‘electric, powerful and often unstoppable in possession’, while the Daily Express says the 20-year-old ‘looked fearless at the top level’.
Elsewhere, the Liverpool Echo report that Arouna Kone has cancelled his summer holiday as he strives to revive his Everton career.
